These cats are increasing in popularity as they are sweet natured and make wonderful pets. They are large sturdy attractive looking cats, with semi long hair, they come in a variety of colours. The Maine Coone has not got a typical meow, but they communicate with humans by making high pitched vibratory sounds. Unfortunately they are prone to heart disease and also hip dysplasia is seen in this breed.
