French Bulldogs for sale

French Bulldogs are related to the American and English Bulldog. They are often termed Frenchies.

This breed of dog is alert and affectionate, it is a gently breed. Firm handling is essential to establish leadership. With proper leardership they will respond well and make good companions. They are not prone to barking. Although they are muscular they are not very active, requiring only one walk a day. They can live happily in an apartment where there is no garden.

Cream, brindle, white, red, fawn, and chocolate brown are all acceptable colours for this breed. They should weigh between 22-30 lbs

Unfortunately the French bulldog is genetically susceptible to a number of health issues including a bleeding disorder that slows down the blood clotting time, this is called Von Willebrand’s Disease which is not dissimilar to haemophilia found in humans. Thyroid conditions are also sometimes troublesome. Breathing problems are another common problem. They do not cope well with extremes of temperature. Several eye conditions can be troublesome with the Frenchie, including juvenile cataracts and glaucoma.

Puppies are sometimes born with a cleft palate and as this is nearly impossible to correct the puppy is usually put down at birth. Puppies often have to be delivered by Caesarian section.

Life expectancy- 10-12 yrs
