Staffordshire Bull Terriers for sale

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier has become a firm favourite with many dog owners. This breed is a popular choice for families with older children, but with younger children they can be too boisterous. It is a devoted and loving companion that thrives on being a member of the family, and loves to be included in all the activities. The Staffy is an exuberant loving dog that needs to be trained not to jump up in an expression of affection. Although they have a reputation for being tolerant and good natured they can become aggressive towards other dogs.

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier will need to have a daily walk. They do not require endless exercise, but rather just enjoy being part of the family and involved in their activities.

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a sturdy strong dog that weighs 11-17kg and is 35-40 cm tall. Their coat colours can be red, fawn, brindle, black, blue or any of the aforementioned colours with white. This breed sheds very little hair and the grooming required is minimal.

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier generally enjoys good health, although there are a few conditions that it is susceptible to. Eye conditions such as cataracts, distachiasis (this is when small eye lashes turn inwards and cause an irritation to the cornea that can become ulcerated). Occasionally Staffys can suffer with hip dysplasia and luxating patellas. There are up to 50% of Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppies that are born by caesarian section.

The life expectancy of the Staffy is approx.14-16 years
